Call for papers: women’s issue of Przegląd Historyczny

We invite you to submit articles for the first issue of Przegląd Historyczny in 2025, which will
be devoted to women’s history. It will soon be thirty-five years since Prof. Anna Żarnowska
published the first volume (edited by her) of Kobieta i społeczeństwo na ziemiach polskich w
XIX wieku (Women and Society in Poland in the Nineteenth Century). The publication marked
the beginning of a turn towards women’s topics in Polish historiography. We believe it is
worth summarising and critically evaluating the achievements in this respect to date, as well
as pointing out areas not yet covered by research or those where research should be
undertaken anew or revised. We are looking for submissions that would not be
devoted to minor issues, but would summarise what has been achieved to date,
critically pointing out gaps, shortcomings and distortions of the historiographic
picture of the various topics. We also look forward to receiving original proposals for
new topics, directions and areas of research combined with methodological
reflection.
